29% increase in TV Ads amid Jan'Sep 2009
The research is done by AdEx India, a division of Tam Media Research.
According to the reports, Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has been the top advertiser during this time. In the field of Food and Beverages (F & B) ' appearance of "Coca Cola' ads have increased then it is followed by Cadbury's, Pepsico and Smithkline Beecham.
With the 20 per cent share theses "aerated soft drinks' got maximum share of the ad pie. Then it was followed by Milk products with 11 per cent, further followed by chocolates, biscuits and non-aerated drinks.
If we look at the personal care Ads like - toilet soaps led the pack at 38 per cent share, followed by tooth paste at 17 per cent, fairness creams at 12 per cent and moisturisers at 6 per cent. And, the top brand in personal care advertising was HUL at 37 per cent, followed by Reckitt Benckiser at 10 per cent, Colgate and Palmolive at 10 per cent, Ponds at 7 percent and ladt but not the least L'Oreal at 4 per cent.
However, the Ads on tea, sugar confectionery, wafers and chewing gum had equal market share in the F&B segment at 4 per cent.
To provide the services to such Ads the service sector grew 13 per cent. Direct-to-home (DTH) providers accounted for 31 per cent, for the increase in advertising. Internet service providers were next at 24 per cent, followed by real estate at 13 per cent and fast food outlets at per cent.
However, last year the advertising in the F&B sector grew 44 per cent.
