92.7 BIG FM's "De Taali" gets IRF award

92.7 BIG FM, radio arm of Reliance Media World Ltd has bagged the India Radio Forum award in the category of Best community service for its campaign against eve teasing De Taali.

Commenting on the win, Ashwin Padmanabhan ' Station Head, BIG 92.7 FM ' Delhi said, "The issue of eve teasing is huge and not unknown to the city of Delhi We wanted to bring to fore the issue, thus making men realize that their behavior is not acceptable and getting women to stand up and be better equipped to take action and stand up for themselves. We are happy that this campaign has helped increase awareness for women's safety in Delhi and has been duly recognized by the India Radio Forum. 92.7 BIG FM Delhi will continue to proactively highlight issues that plague our society with more campaigns like De Taali"

The campaign was executed in the first week on March 2009 as a run up the Womens Day. The highly successful campaign managed to bring to light the issue that is faced almost every day by women, from across ages and economic strata of society. The campaign saw RJs visiting different locations across the city catching eve teasers red handed and publically embarrassing them to get them to repent their awful act. The Campaign also saw self defense classes for women being organized in association with Delhi
