Aashram 3 wraps up story, but leaves door open for sequel
After trudging along for three seasons, Prakash Jha's Aashram finally gets a proper conclusion, though it leaves scope for a further sequel!!
Baba Nirala (Bobby Deol) is still lusting for his sworn enemy Pammi Pehelwan (Aaditi Pohankar) and holds her virtually captive in his sinister aashram. Next, Pammi seduces Baba's close confidante Bhopa Swami (Chandan Roy Sanyal) and thus, begins her sexual politics leading to the Baba's downfall.
Unlike the earlier seasons which were snail paced, the narrative is thankfully fast and furious this time. It is also oversexed up with those constant love making sequences between Pammi and Bhopa.
At just five episodes of approximately forty minutes each, Prakash Jha has kinda hurried the series to a conclusion, probably minding Bobby Deol's regained stardom post Animal (2023). Deol is in his element this time as well and I particularly relished the Baba's backstory and rise to the godman status. This part is indeed interesting!!
Aaditi Pohankar excels as Pammi Pehelwaan even as the series practically revolves around her. Chandan Roy Sanyal is sincere as Bhopa but appears tad uncomfortable in those love shove scenes. The rest of the cast passes muster.
Overall, Aashram comes to a logical and satisfactory conclusion after beating around the bush for past three seasons. Those who have watched it from the beginning shouldn't miss it...
