Actor Rohit Choudhary "Sharing the frame with Nana Sir was a daily masterclass"
Actor Rohit Choudhary, who is currently co-producing and starring in Anil Sharma's upcoming film Vanvass, is set to play the role of an NDRF officer in the movie. The film also features the legendary Nana Patekar in a pivotal role, and Choudhary couldn’t be more thrilled to share the screen with him.
Reflecting on his experience working alongside Patekar, Choudhary shared, "I’ve always admired Nana Sir for his honesty and intensity on screen. Sharing the frame with him was a masterclass—each day was a new lesson. His presence is magnetic, and the depth he brings to every scene leaves you awestruck."
Choudhary elaborated on the impact Patekar had on him both as an actor and as a person: "Observing him was a lesson in commitment, passion, and authenticity. Nana Sir’s ability to channel raw emotion is unparalleled, and his simplicity and humility off-screen are equally inspiring."
The Gadar-2 actor also praised Patekar for his kindness and generosity. "Nana Sir is not just a phenomenal actor but also a remarkable human being who deeply connects with the world and strives to make a difference," Choudhary remarked.
He recalled one particular moment on set that left a lasting impression: “I vividly remember a scene where his intensity left everyone speechless. It wasn’t just acting—it was pure, unfiltered emotion. Witnessing that moment was transformative. Moments like those push you to evolve, not just as an artist, but as a person.”
Beyond his professional admiration, Choudhary shared some lighthearted moments with Patekar. "He loves cooking, and during our stay at the hotel while shooting, he used to cook for us. He once made paya soup, and it was absolutely delicious. Cooking and feeding people is something he genuinely enjoys. Almost every alternate day, he would prepare something for us.”
Choudhary also fondly remembered their time shooting in Shimla, where an unexpected snowfall led to a unique scene. "While we were shooting in Shimla, where snowfall hadn’t occurred for two years, we arranged for artificial snow for a scene. That night, it miraculously snowed for real. Nana woke up at 3:30 a.m., went out in the snow, and prepared the scene himself. He even rehearsed alone for the scene we were to shoot the next day."
"Salute to such a dedicated actor who brings so much authenticity and passion to his work. He is incredibly natural and organic on-screen," Choudhary added.
He also recalled how Patekar would interact with the young cast members. "He has a great love for children and would always interact with them. Our younger co-stars, Utkarsh and Simran, were often motivated by him during the shoot. He would also give his inputs whenever something needed to be improved, showing his commitment to making every scene better."
Choudhary also credited Vanvass's director, Anil Sharma, for fostering a creative and collaborative environment. “Anil Sir is a true visionary. He has an exceptional talent for storytelling and an unmatched ability to bring out the best in his actors. His passion for the craft is infectious, and he creates an environment that encourages creativity.”
For Choudhary, working on Vanvass has been a journey of growth and learning. "Bringing this story to life alongside such legends has been a journey of growth and learning. I sincerely hope the audience connects with our performances as deeply as we connected with the characters and the narrative."
Vanvass is set to be a remarkable cinematic experience, with Choudhary’s heartfelt reflections on his journey a testament to the exceptional talents he had the privilege of working with.
