Allu Arjun: “Doing a Hindi film was a huge aspiration”

Allu Arjun, the charismatic star of the Telugu film industry, recently attended a special event to promote his much-awaited film Pushpa 2, which is set for release on December 5. The event, brimming with excitement, saw the actor alongside his co-star Rashmika Mandanna, as they shared heartfelt memories of the nearly five years spent working on the film.

In a candid conversation, Arjun reflected on his career journey and the milestones that have shaped his iconic path.

The actor, known for his powerhouse performances, took a moment to speak about his portrayal of the iconic character, Pushpa Raj. He opened up about his aspirations for recognition, including a deep personal desire to win the prestigious National Award. "Before Pushpa 1, I told Sukumar Garu that I wanted to aim for the Best Actor award. I wanted to elevate the quality of my performance to such a level that it would deserve a National Award," Allu Arjun shared. "It’s a very special feeling because, in the last 69 years, no Telugu actor has won the National Award. That was something close to my heart, and it happened because of Sukumar Garu. His dedication made it possible."

Allu Arjun, who has often expressed gratitude for the team behind Pushpa, also reminisced about his deep bond with his long-time friend and music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP). Both of them, having roots in Chennai, have always shared dreams of working beyond regional cinema. "For the longest time, I believed doing a Hindi film was almost impossible for us. At that time, it was a huge thing to aspire to. It felt distant, almost unattainable. I told DSP that it was easier for him to make a mark in Hindi cinema as a music director, but for me, it seemed like a far-off dream. He encouraged me, saying, 'Why don’t you do a Hindi film, and I will do one along with you?' That conversation stuck with me," Allu Arjun recalled. "Now, to stand here and talk about the success of Pushpa, which became a national sensation, and to see both DSP and I winning National Awards for the same film—it’s truly a surreal moment."

Arjun went on to express his gratitude for the entire Pushpa team, especially on the emotional last day of shooting. "It was a very emotional moment for all of us. Pushpa 2 is a film close to my heart, and I hope it becomes a massive success, not just for me but for everyone who was part of this journey, especially my fans. It’s for them that we work so hard," he said, his voice filled with sincerity.

With Pushpa 2 set for an expansive release across nearly 1,500 screens, Allu Arjun is eager for audiences to experience the next chapter of Pushpa Raj’s journey. As he looks back on a career filled with achievements, including his journey from the Tamil film industry to becoming one of India’s most beloved actors, the anticipation for Pushpa 2 is only growing.
