Argos to woo viewers with comical ads

Argos, the largest general-goods retailer in the United Kingdom, has rolled out a comical Christmas campaign.

The Christmas TV campaign is based on the idea 'celebrate for less.'

First 20-second slot is already on air. It shows people compiling Christmas wish lists, from a boy's space adventure theme, a school teacher and an office worker trying to avoid being caught misusing the office copier.

The second slot is all set to go on air on October 23, 2009. This 50-second commercial features a dad doing his best to stuff an oversized turkey into a tiny oven and follows with cracker jokes and uninvited out-of-town relatives. The voice over states: "and we'll bring an easier way to shop... from the smallest gift... to the biggest sofa... all at famously low Argos prices."

The campaign is created by CHI & Partners, the ads will also be posted on radio, press and Internet.
