Atlys expands Its footprint into the UK with a strategic acquisition of Artionis
Atlys, a digital visa platform recently backed by a $20 million funding round—announces its expansion into the UK market.
A key component of this expansion is the all-cash acquisition of Artionis, a UK-based visa services company. This deal brings aboard 40 specialists operating across offices in London, Manchester, and Edinburgh. By the end of the year, Atlys plans to double its UK headcount to 80 employees, addressing the needs of a diverse traveller base in a country where 36% of the population either hold non-UK passports or favor a self-service visa approach.
"Expanding to the UK represents more than just market growth – it's about creating a more equitable travel ecosystem," said Mohak Nahta, Founder and CEO of Atlys. "Our platform is designed to make international travel accessible to everyone, regardless of their passport strength, and the UK's strategic position will help us extend this impact across Europe."
Artionis is known for its exclusive rights in processing UK-to-Russia visas, an area that demands precision and specialized know-how. Incorporating Artionis’ capabilities allows Atlys to reduce redundant paperwork, give applicants accurate approval timelines backed by refund guarantees, and cut the typical application time to under five minutes. Post-acquisition, Atlys will digitize Artionis’s traditional processes, focusing on a faster, online-first experience while eliminating non-essential add-ons to save travellers time and money. This expansion builds on Atlys’s global success, having processed over two million visas since 2021.
In 2024, the Elevation Capital & Peak XV-backed startup expanded into the UAE, catering to the growing expatriate population seeking efficient visa solutions. With the global travel market projected to exceed $9 trillion by 2023 and international arrivals expected to reach 1.8 billion by 2030, Atlys is poised to play a crucial role in simplifying international travel.
Beyond visa services, Atlys aims to evolve into a one-stop platform for global travel solutions, branching out into offerings such as eSIMs, Forex, and travel insurance, with plans to introduce curated travel experiences in the near future. This broader vision underscores Atlys’ unwavering commitment to empowering even more global travellers to explore the world with confidence – regardless of their passport strength
