Amitabh Bachchan will be playing the role of "Pop Philosopher' the third season of the hit reality show, Bigg Boss. Colours has gained immense popularity with the previous two seasons of Bigg Boss and plans to make it even bigger with the third.
Making a comeback on television after his hugely successful stint while hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000, Amitabh Bachchan sounded quite excited about his new involvement. About his association with Colours, Mr Bachchan shared with the media, "I've watched COLORS create an unbelievable mark in this industry, within a short span of time ' through great concepts leading to meaningful entertainment. I am excited to begin with them, a new journey of "rediscovery' and "reinvention' of my own abilities and in the process, meaningfully entertain millions of my fans."
When quizzed about why he chose a reality show like Bigg Boss, he added, "This is one show that has intrigued me immensely as a viewer ' its format, its contestants and the psychological battle within the house. That intrigue, coupled with the unique concept that COLORS shared with me for this season, excited me to be a part of "Bigg Boss' this year." He further added, "I am looking forward to my role that gives me the unique opportunity to help viewers decode emotions and comprehend simple philosophies of life (without getting philosophical)."
Amitabh Bachchan is rumoured to have secured a cool 126 crore cheque for his commitment to Bigg Boss. He is believed to be taking home INR 1.5 crore per episode. This translates to a sum of 126 crore as Bigg Boss (season 3) will have a lifespan of 84 episodes. Last year, Bigg Boss had a combined viewership of over 70 million over a period of 3 months. This time round, with Amitabh Bachchan coming on board; expect the excitement and viewership to grow even further.
