Bikram Sandhu wins reality show X-treme Trail on National Geographic Channel

Everyone has a secret wish, a desire or a passion, but how many of us actually go out-of-our comfortable zone to pursue that dream. Just a handful and Bikram Sandhu falls in this niche category of people. He gave up his lucrative job in Merchant Navy to chase his dream of tasting adventure and honing his acting skills.

 

For Bikram, travelling to distant places started when he was just one-month-old. His parents are equally avid travellers and this worked in his favour. His urge to discover various cultures, eat different cuisines, landed him as a navigator in the Merchant Navy, when he was just 18-years-old.

 

Ever since then, he has travelled to as many as 51 countries and has been to over 100 cities all around the globe. Cruising through sea  had become his life long companion, till the sudden death of one of his friends, made him realise the thumb rule of life - "Life is too short to ponder over.One should pursue dreams in this life only."

 

And there his life took a U-turn, he quit his plush job in 2009 and started working towards his dream, to be an actor. 

 

Life hasn't been easy since then, admits Bikram, but he is sure his positive attitude and never-to-die- spirit will sail him through tough times and he will come out as a winner.

 

And his came true when he won National Geographic's road-reality show "Xtreme Trail". Battling extreme weather conditions, showing amazing endurance skills and drivng through bad roads, Bikram won the contest hands down. His sheer patience and positive attitude pushed him to win the contest.

 

His manta in life is "If you are scared of anything, get over that fear to conquer all" and this he has applied in his personal life as well. He has successfully overcome his fear of height and water. He now enjoy photographyand Chickoo farming.

 

The aspiring actor is not only trying his luck in Bollywood, but is passionate about writing as well.

 

So far, Bikram has penned down two movie scripts and is working on the third one. 

 

X -Treme Trail : 

It is a reality show of thrilling test of courage and skill mixed with a ride through the deserts, jungles, highways, mountains of India with pit stops on the way to mingle and sample rich culture, heritage and flavour.

Only two get through to drive the icy Himalyan Terrain to the Siachen Glacier, in this extreme off road challenge. 20 individuals shortlisted through   selection process from all across the country, were groomed to drive across the country in one exhilarating adventure. From the 20, the group got down to 8 and then through a series of tasks and challenges, 1 contestant faced elimination at every level of the expedition. Contestants drive across the vast deserts of Rajasthan, dense jungles of Uttrakhand and rocky mountains of Himachal Pradesh. And only two will drive through the steep Himalayan terrain up one of the world’s highest motorable roads to reach the foot hills of Siachen Glacier.

The show is being telecast on National Geographic, Fox Traveller, Star World and Channel V. The show is about a group of people who are driving a Nissan Xtrail in different terrains and the winners get to go to Siachen to pay a tribute to the Indian soldiers. Bikram have won this show and the final episode is to be telecast on the10th of December
