BLENDERS PRIDE BANGALORE FASHION WEEK 6 - Collection Notes

VIKAS GROVER & KAMAL KOCHAR:
Collection Name: Prismatic Polarization
Brief: Remember how much fun one would have had as a kid when one would have played dress-up in their  mother’s closet and – ever so creatively – combine her draped dressed with their favorite purple tights and somehow walk away looking absolutely fabulous? Well…so does our brand –Vikas & Kamal think. The glimpse of the rainbow inspired us and made us relate to transitional phases of different moods of a woman.
Playing off of that perfect partnership between youthful creativity and feminine maturity, the collection mixed sheer and dyed fabrics with playful colors and exotic styles to create the ideal image for the various transitional moods (which any young modern woman portray) to the prismatic color nurtured in the rainbow and thereby uniting these two worlds.
Sheer tie and dyed gowns paired with over cloaks, tops were paired with feminine skirts and net based embroidered element in them while draped dresses got the accessorizing with chunky belts. Every look however, no matter what the style or color combo, was finished off with playful accessories including colorful headgears and neck ornaments. A perfect pairing of pieces to tell the world   ‘never take yourself too serious as Seeing the spectrum of colors across the blue skies is a sight, few are lucky to witness! So, plan to witness which luxury color you get molded into.’

SANDEEP MUKHERJEE:
Collection Name: Aged but Prospective
Brief: The collection is different because the fabrics and the colors which are used are rarely used now days like "Khadi, Tussar and rawsilk" khadi which is also called as the national fabrics. As this time Bangalore fashion week has a international mix, I thought my collection should have something which denotes "India" so I used our national fabric that is khadi and to show our Indian craftsmanship the fabrics which I have used all are hand woven and handmade like khadi, tussar and rawsilk.. as well as the season that is "summer shower" these fabrics are best for the season. The colors used r very rarely used like kora (khadi), antique & black. So in one sentence I can say that the collection will speak about ancient India, its beauty, but in a western style. The collection will represent "India". Which is very unique for an International fashion Week.

NIKITA VARMA:
Collection Name: Luxurious Seascapes
Brief: The collection is inspired by the breeziness of a seaside, the shimmer of the ocean and sand as they glisten under the beautiful sunshine of a bright summer day or the exquisite skies of the setting sun. The blues and greens of seawater, the grey, browns, dusty mauves and muted pinks of sea stones and the shimmering golds and yellows of the golden sand and sun itself, inspire the colors used in the collection.  Hand-painted patterns and dégrade’ hues come from the unique natural patterns found in sea foams, sand and sandstone formations.
Silks in chiffon, georgette, satin and taffeta have been enhanced with exquisite hand painting to create beautiful patterns and ombre’ surface designs on fabrics. Pleating and ruching techniques combined with innovative draping and construction techniques have been used to create distinctive patterns.
Quote: Every NIKITTA creation embodies fashion and art in a harmonious combination and balance, to bring forth modern and innovative designs. The label emphasizes on perfect fit, impeccable construction and finish of garments. It also experiments with different and new fabrications, construction techniques and pattern constructions. The label strives to study different body shapes and create designs that enhance the beauty and confidence of the wearer

MUSTAFA HASSAN ALI:

Brief: Inspired by the Indian influence on the Swahili coast of East Africa, the collection exuberates feminity synonymous to the kaleidoscope of colours which shines through the rainbow gazing across the Serengeti plains and fluidity of the river Rufiji meandering through the Selous. Clean silhouettes, fluid accessorized by over the top headgears.

SWAPNIL SHINDE Presented By GITANJALI JEWELS:
Collection Name: SPEED

Collection Note: Swapnil Shinde’s collection, presented by Gitanjali, is all about breaking rules and going all over the top, with modernity and structure.  “Speed” as the source of inspiration was derived from speed of sound. The inspiration lies in the rippled effects created by sound waves.  The color palette includes ivory, jet black, warm grey, nude and a shock of yellow. The silhouettes range from tops, short dresses , evening gowns and jackets whereas the fabrics range from a variety of menswear fabrics, silk chiffons, taffetas, organza’s, silk crepe and an innovative use of acrylic, p.v.c and leather.

Although the inspiration for the texture and overall feel is from sound waves and ripples the essence of the collection is 80’S - whether it is shoulder pads, or boxy trousers, boleros, Madonna inspired p.v.c., sculptural dresses skirts and tops. The key was to take unconventional concepts and make them relatable and aesthetically romantic. The exquisite timepieces adorned by the show stopper and Swapnil himself are from Morellato from Gitanjali group.
