Bombay HC Restrains Apollo Tyres' Ad

The Bombay High Court has ordered Apollo Tyres to halt the broadcast of an advertisement deemed to belittle Ceat, a competing brand. The advertisement in question, showcasing Apollo's Apterra AT2 tires for the Mahindra Thar, was ruled to unfairly depict Ceat's products as subpar.

Ceat responded, emphasizing the significance of ethical marketing and safeguarding intellectual property. The company views this development as a crucial case study for the advertising and marketing sectors.

Key Developments:

- Apollo Tyres Restrained: The court's ex-parte order prohibits Apollo Tyres from airing the advertisement.
- Trademark Protection: Apollo Tyres is also barred from using Ceat's trademarked phrases "SETH" and "SEE-IT"
- Upcoming Hearing: A full hearing is scheduled for October 11 to further address the matter.

This ruling underscores the importance of fair competition and responsible advertising practices in the industry.
