Dancing is an ancient art form that has transcended time: Saanand Verma

Actor Saanand Verma acknowledges on the occason of  International Dance Day which is observed on April 29,  that dance helps to make one's body healthier by growing its pliability, contributing to overall wellness in the long term. He said: “Dance symbolizes flexibility, which is crucial in life. When you are flexible, you experience fewer physical and mental issues. I always strive to learn new steps and enjoy this art form. I believe that to be a good dancer, one must be physically and mentally flexible. Flexibility allows you to adapt to whatever comes your way, similar to how our teeth aren't flexible and we lose them eventually. Achieving flexibility is essential. If you want to learn dance, you need to embrace and cultivate flexibility,” he explains.

'Beedi Jalayle Jigar Se Piya' by Vishal Bharadwaj is his favourite song to groove. I can't resist dancing when I hear this song. He points out: "Sunidhi Chauhan has sung it beautifully.”

Further he shares:  “Despite not receiving formal training, I consider myself an exceptionally good dancer. My physical flexibility enables me to learn steps quickly and understand them well. Additionally, conveying the right expressions and emotions is crucial. When you dance, your facial expressions should complement your movements. I feel fortunate that my expressions align with my dancing, which is why I believe I'm a gifted dancer.”

He  notes the increasing popularity of dance reels on social media, saying, “Content centered around dance will always be relevant because dance is the ultimate form of expression. It brings joy and spreads positive energy. It has been a staple form of entertainment throughout history, and it will continue to enrich our lives. Dancing and singing complement each other, enhancing our overall well-being. Dancing is a superpower of happiness and positivity.”

When asked about the role dance plays for actors, he highlights, “As an actor, being a proficient dancer is essential. In India, where we work, our films are often melodramatic and heavily involve dance. Whether it's Bollywood or South Indian cinema, dance plays a significant role. Dancing is an ancient form of art that has transcended time and evolved. It's deeply ingrained in our culture and will continue to thrive.”
