Dangal turns 8: Aamir Khan Productions shares exclusive BTS footage

In a special celebration marking the 8th anniversary of Dangal, Aamir Khan Productions has shared exclusive behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage from the making of the iconic film.
Released in 2016, Dangal became a cinematic gem, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. The film, which stars Aamir Khan as Mahavir Singh Phogat and follows the inspiring journey of his daughters, Geeta and Babita, as they become India's first world-class female wrestlers, continues to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences worldwide. The makers celebrated this milestone by giving fans a glimpse into the set’s memorable moments, showcasing the dedication and hard work behind the film's success.

Along with Aamir Khan, Dangal featured an ensemble cast including Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim, Suhani Bhatnagar, Sakshi Tanwar, Aparshakti Khurana, and Ritvik Sahore. The film went on to become the biggest blockbuster of its time, earning numerous accolades and winning hearts across the world.
At the 64th National Film Awards, Zaira Wasim took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her portrayal of Geeta’s younger self. On the international stage, Dangal claimed the inaugural Best Asian Film Award at the 7th AACTA Awards in Australia, Best Foreign Film and Top Foreign Actor (for Aamir Khan) at the 2017 Douban Film Awards in China, and was nominated at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival in the Asian Brilliant Stars category.
Dangal made history at the box office, becoming the only Indian film to surpass ₹2000 crore globally. It also made its mark internationally with a release in Japan, where it became the first Indian film to be co-distributed by Disney and Japan’s Gaga Corporation. Additionally, the film had a successful premiere in South Korea.
