Deepaknath appointed Deputy Director General of BAI
Deepaknath PJ has been appointed as the Deputy Director General of the Brewers Association of India (BAI), the apex body of the beer industry representing India’s largest beer makers such as the AB InBev, Carlsberg, and the United Breweries (a Heineken company).
Deepaknath would be based out of Bengaluru and would drive public policy advocacy for the beer industry in the South and West regions of India, besides co-ordinating some pre- designated pan-India initiatives. He has a strong background in beer and public policy advocacy.
“With his vast experience in beer, public policy advocacy, and a deep understanding of the regulatory policy on both beer and spirits, I am sure he would add great value to the BAI and play a key role in shaping up public discourse and regulatory policy towards beer, a more responsible and sustainable alcoholic beverage choice,” said Mr Vinod Giri, DG, BAI.
Deepaknath brings with himself over 25 years of rich experience in Brand Marketing, Brand Strategy and Public Policy advocacy. He started his career with the United Breweries, handling brand marketing duties on the Kingfisher franchise including the launch of Kingfisher Strong, the largest selling beer in India. Subsequently, Deepaknath joined SABMiller and was the Vice President Marketing – Brands, overseeing a strong portfolio. Thereafter Deepaknath moved to public policy advocacy and for the last four years has been leading policy advocacy for the spirits industry for the South and West India as the Deputy Director General, CIABC.
