Delhi HC orders stay on 'Sasta Wallah' ads against Physics Wallah

The Delhi High Court has intervened in a legal battle between edtech giants Physics Wallah and Scholars Den. The court has issued an interim order restraining Scholars Den from airing or publishing any advertisements that disparage Physics Wallah, specifically using the term "sasta wallah" (the cheap one).
Physics Wallah, founded by Alakh Pandey, filed a lawsuit against Scholars Den, arguing that the use of this term tarnishes its reputation and undermines the quality of its services. The company contended that these ads were not only displayed outside Scholars Den's physical coaching centres but were also widely circulated on social media platforms, causing significant damage to its brand image.
Justice Mini Pushkarna, in her order, found that Physics Wallah had established a prima facie case for granting the injunction. The court emphasized that without this interim relief, Physics Wallah would suffer irreparable harm. The case is scheduled for a full hearing in April 2025.
