"Discipline drives me": Manav Gohil on his role in Karate Girls
Acclaimed actor Manav Gohil, known for his versatile performances in television and films, takes on a compelling role in Amazon MX Player’s latest coming-of-age drama, Karate Girls. The series, which explores themes of self-discovery, friendship, and perseverance, revolves around two girls, Abha and Komal, whose clashing personalities collide at Navodaya Karate Academy. Speaking about his role as Ajay Kadam, Gohil elaborates on the depth of his character: “Ajay Kadam is a dedicated teacher and the owner of the Dojo, a karate school that serves as the heart of the story. His relationships—with his daughter, his estranged son, and a disciple with whom he shares a love-hate dynamic—create a rich narrative tapestry. The full picture only becomes clear as the story unfolds, keeping viewers intrigued until the end.”
The actor also highlights the personal connection he feels with his character. “For me, it’s all about discipline—there’s no compromise on that. I believe, and my daughter would agree, that I am very disciplined about time, food, and conduct. Similarly, Ajay deeply values discipline, which is why I feel a strong connection with him,” Gohil shares.
