DMart appoints Anshul Asawa as Next MD & CEO, succeeding Neville Noronha

Avenue Supermarts, the parent company of DMart, has announced that Anshul Asawa will take over as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on February 1, 2026, following the end of Neville Noronha’s tenure in January 2026. Asawa has been appointed as the CEO designate, effective March 15, 2025, to ensure a seamless transition.

Asawa brings extensive leadership experience from Unilever, where he has held a variety of key roles since joining in 1995. Currently serving as General Manager, Greater Asia, Home Care, and Head of Country at Unilever Thailand, he has led sales, marketing, and channel transformation initiatives across multiple geographies. His expertise includes driving growth in new channels, e-commerce, and professional markets.

Neville Noronha, who has been with Avenue Supermarts for more than two decades, has been instrumental in the company’s growth from its early stages to becoming one of India’s largest supermarket chains. Under his leadership, DMart expanded from just 5 stores to over 380 stores and achieved an annual turnover exceeding ₹50,000 crore.

The board of Avenue Supermarts expressed confidence in Asawa’s ability to build on the solid foundation laid by Noronha. The leadership transition signals a new chapter for DMart as it continues to focus on scaling operations and meeting consumer demands in the highly competitive retail market.
