DNA and Sunfeast presents 'Ya! Mela Station'
A typical weekend is not a getaway to a farm but to catch a movie in the best of the multiplexes there are. And then, the concept of melas is almost dead. I don't remember Surajkund Mela in the region of NCR having as good a turnout as there used to be at one point of time. But still, the concept isn't dead, and there are some interested people coming religiously, just to get introduced with the reality and simplicity of life.
And it is pure joy to report that DNA is doing its bit too. Daily News and Analysis (DNA) brings out Ya! (Young Adults) ' a supplement that is mainly targeted towards kids from as young as 4 years to 18, but it is also read by many parents and people who are almost 50 years old ' is organizing an event with the central theme being a Mela.
Set in a rustic environment, the Ya! Mela Station is presented by DNA Ya! and Sunfeast. From May 28 to 30 kids can experience fun, entertainment and shopping in the village mela. The mela has been recreated in meticulous detail with all the activities that bring the fun and flavour of an authentic village fair.
The DNA Ya! Mela Station will feature games and activities ranging from pottery to clay modelling and puppet show.
There will also be something called Funshala Bus ' a busload of play and activity aboard a bright butterfly shaped a/c bus. At Ya! Mastizone, you could watch a bioscope, get a tattoo or nail art and also a good opportunity to meet a scarecrow! There will also be a zone wherein you could check out the history of coins and fascinating stories about stamps with the Reserve Bank of India and the Indian Post.
What is noble about DNA Ya! is that it is not just catering to a niche target group that will form the leaders of the society tomorrow, but also trying to grow them into complete human beings by imparting necessary education and exposure through the tabloid and also events like the DNA Ya! Mela.
