Do Patti : Kriti Sanon shines in a lackluster twin drama, While Kajol disappoints

A couple of questions crossed my mind after watching the latest Netflix film Do Patti on a lazy Saturday afternoon.

First and foremost, why did Kriti Sanon decide to produce the movie? Was it because she was getting to play a "Seeta aur Geeta" kinda twin sisters or just that Kanika Dhillon finally got over her fascination for Taapsee Pannu and wrote this double role wala drama exclusively for her?

To be honest, Kriti excels as both the diverse characters and is the only reason you may actually sit through the film. In fact, the first half has the two Kritis vying for attention of a Haryanvi dude (Shaheer Sheikh). The Seeta type docile one gets lucky. Geeta wali naughty rebellious type vows revenge.

In the second hour, Do Patti becomes an entirely different film with the Haryanvi hubby beating the hell out of the Seeta Kriti. Like the '90s, we even get to see her tumbling down the staircase. Ouch!! All this time, you have the good olè nanny (Tanvi Azmi) clicking intimate photographs of the couple, making you wonder if she's gathering evidence or is just plain kinky!!!

So, where does that leave Kajol? Well, she is the investigating officer cum defence lawyer. How, why. Don't ask!! It is the otherwise bright actor's dullest performance ever. Truly, a Divya Dutta or Tisca Chopra would have done better. My second question: why did Kajol do this. Why o why!!
