Draft OOH Policy: BMC extends date for receiving feedback by 2 weeks to Sept 8

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has extended the date for submitting feedback and suggestions for its draft OOH advertising policy by two weeks till September 8, 2024. The earlier deadline ended yesterday (August 26, 2024).

The Indian Outdoor Advertising Association had sought two more months’ time for submitting suggestions and more indepth industry discussions on the draft policy.

As per industry sources, the OOH stakeholders are seeking a rollback on prohibiting terrace hoardings. They are also unhappy with the shorter time duration allowed for digital OOH ads and have asked for the operational hours to be extended.

Moreover, advertisers had expressed their concerns about being held liable in case of any accidents involving OOH ad platforms. However, as per some media reports, the BMC officials have clarified that the media owner or the permit holder will be held responsible in case of a mishap.

Video ads is also an area of contention between the industry stakeholders and the authorities.
