Dubai-based siblings offer JioHotstar domain to Reliance for free
Dubai-based siblings Jainam and Jivika have offered to transfer the JioHotstar domain to "Team Reliance" at no cost. The siblings originally acquired the domain from a Delhi-based app developer who registered it in 2023, hoping to sell it to Reliance for Rs 1 crore to fund an executive MBA at Cambridge. When Reliance declined, citing legal and technical constraints, the developer sold the domain to Jainam and Jivika on October 26, 2024, to support his educational pursuits.
In a message posted on the site, the siblings stated, "Given the ongoing discussions, we believe it's best for Team Reliance to have this domain if they wish. We're ready to transfer [the JioHotstar domain] to them for free, with all proper documentation." Visitors to their site are now redirected to a page that shares the siblings' story, along with details about their educational outreach program for underprivileged children.
The siblings clarified that their acquisition was solely to highlight their “seva (service) journey,” with no intention of financial gain or creating controversy. Despite numerous offers, including significant sums, they have consistently maintained that the domain is not for sale. They have invited Reliance to contact them if interested in assuming ownership.
