Also commenting on the big win, Ms. Amrita Chowdhury, Managing Director, DY Works, said, “We are humbled by the trust bestowed upon us by Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited and are thrilled to put our thoughts into action towards designing a unique and culture-based brand identity for the new industrial smart city being built near the City of Gates - Aurangabad”.

Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) is India's most ambitious Infrastructure programme aiming to develop new industrial cities as "Smart Cities" and converging next generation technologies across infrastructure sectors. The objective is to expand India's manufacturing and services base and develop DMIC as a "Global Manufacturing and Trading Hub". In the first phase seven new industrial cities are being developed. The programme has been conceptualized in partnership and collaboration with Government of Japan.
In Maharashtra, the DMICDC, along with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (MIDC), has formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) - Aurangabad Industrial Township Limited (AITL) to plan and implement the Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area (SBIA) near Aurangabad. SBIA is one of the several nodes planned by the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Ltd (DMICDC) along the proposed Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). The DFC between Delhi and Mumbai will pass through six states and will cover an overall length of 1,483 kilometers. The SBIA has been originally conceived as an industrial city spread over 84 square kilometers. Phase 1 of this development is proposed to be about 40.42 square kilometers in tow locations Shendra (8.4 square kilometers adjacent to the existing Shendra Five Star Industrial Area) and Bidkin (32 square kilometers). DMICDC and MIDC have appointed CH2M as the Programme Manager for New Cities (PMNC).
