EndemolShine India sets new standard with eco-friendly Bigg Boss production
As the entertainment industry continues to evolve, there is an increasing recognition of the need for businesses to take responsibility for their environmental impact. Leading by example, EndemolShine India, the makers of the hugely popular Bigg Boss, has made a significant move towards sustainability, aligning its production processes with a broader vision of environmental responsibility
In a bold step to reduce its carbon footprint, the production house has implemented a series of eco-friendly initiatives on the sets of Bigg Boss, one of India's most-watched reality shows. The change: replacing an estimated 7,50,000 single-use plastic bottles with steel bottles for its 800 production crew members. Additionally, water dispensers have been installed, complete with biodegradable paper cups for guests and crew members alike. This initiative not only cuts down on plastic waste but also sets a powerful example of sustainability in the entertainment industry.
At EndemolShine India, sustainability isn't just a trend for us — it's a responsibility. Given the scale of our production and the crew on the Bigg Boss set, replacing 7.5 lakh single-use plastic bottles was a big move for us. We've taken this concrete step toward reducing our carbon footprint and minimizing plastic waste, while setting a new benchmark for the industry to follow. This initiative is part of a broader vision to incorporate eco-friendly practices across all our productions.- Sarvesh Singh, Head of Production
This initiative is a crucial part of the broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy that EndemolShine India has been incorporating across its operations. While this adds to the massive budget of producing the show, EndemolShine India has taken this bold step to make a significant contribution to the reduction of plastic waste and the overall carbon footprint of the entertainment industry.
