ESPN may launch sports news channel in India

Sports lovers in India may soon be able to enjoy a news channel focusing exclusively on Asian sports. The channel, ESPNEWS, has already been launched by ESPN Star Sports (ESS) in Singapore.

It operates on SingTel's mio TV platform. As for India, ESS has approached the ministry of information and broadcasting for approval.

ESPNEWS programming comprises a mix of news from local, regional and international sporting venues. The channel will keep sports buffs updated with real-time news and scores. Highlights will also be a feature of the channel.

The channel's presentation brings together four principal data streams. A video window showcases sports action and highlights. The bottom-line graphic incorporates a scroll of results and the schedule of forthcoming fixtures.

The top-line graphic affords constantly updated news, while the sideline graphic provides a wealth of information on the globe's professional leagues, including statistics and rankings.
