Exclusive: Do what your heart says, Actor Teena Chopra

In recent times, we’ve seen a whole lot of young and fresh talent on Indian television screen. Likewise other aspiring actors like Teena Chopra who started her television journey with Star Plus’s television series – Ek Haseena Thi. The show had recently completed its 100 episodes.

Teena who is playing the character of  Payal(Rape Victim to whom justice is denied) in an Indian suspense thriller television series- Ek Haseena Thi belongs to Chandigarh, India.

In an exclusive interaction with Adgully, Teena Chopra, Actor shared her initial journey with television and about her on going role and much more…

Teena hails from Delhi and have completed her graduation from Punjab University, Chandigarh before shifting to Mumbai for her career. “My journey has been quite interesting so far; from music videos to brand endorsement to Ek Haseena Thi now", said Chopra.

Her character of Payal in her debut show Ek Haseena Thi touched a very sensitive chord with the audience. On asking how tough was it to get a foothold in Hindi GEC, she shared, “It has been a privilege to be a part of this industry. I am still very new and finding my way through ups and downs and making my foothold stronger".

Further, on asking what inspired Teena to become an actor, and how’s her experience been so far with Cinevistaa productions and Star Plus, she said, “I always wanted to be an actor. Since childhood I was very active in school and college activities. It feels nice to debut with such a big banner and play a role like of Payal right at the beginning of the career. It has been a learning experience".

“The character of Payal is very close to my heart. Not because it’s my debut role but because it’s very challenging. It gave me the chance to portray a female who has gone through physical abuse and is a victim", she added.

Though her character i well perceived by the audience but on the response front she expressed, “I am glad that the audience accepted me with open arms and loved my acting. The way crime against women is increasing in our country and how justice is being denied, people are able to relate to the pain that Payal has gone through and identify with the character".

“It is a very challenging role but I somewhere connect to it being a female. It is extremely upsetting when I think, what if I was the female with whom such an incident would have happened? It drains you mentally. It takes a lot of courage, rehearsals and practice to perform such roles on screen", Teena said.

Teena who always wanted to be an actor and is on the path to make her dreams come true believes in doing what her heart wants and has always been supported by her sister.

On asking, is there any specific channel, director or producer that you want to work with? “Yes. The list is very long as I have just started my career", shared Teena.

As of now, she is focusing on her ongoing show Ek HaseenaThi. “I am reading scripts and lot of things in pipeline but it’s too early to talk about them.” She, concluded. [By Ranjana Gupta| Twitter: @RGrightsreserve]
