Flipkart’s 'Rift to Gift' campaign makes fights fun this Valentine’s
This Valentine's Day, Flipkart Minutes is flipping the script on traditional romance with its cheeky new campaign, "Rift to Gift." Departing from the usual sentimental gestures, the campaign playfully suggests that a little argument can go a long way in getting the perfect gift from one’s partner.
Conceptualized and executed by 22feet Tribal Worldwide, the campaign is spearheaded by a digital film that humorously contrasts the frustration of receiving lackluster gifts with the serene wisdom of a spiritual leader. This clever juxtaposition reinforces Flipkart Minutes’ core offering: an extensive range of thoughtful gifts, all delivered in just 10 minutes.
At the heart of this quirky initiative is RiftToGift.com, a bot that generates humorous "rift-starters" designed to spark lighthearted tiffs between partners. Once a rift is initiated, the bot ensures a smooth resolution by nudging the partner with an SMS suggesting an ideal gift—because nothing says "I love you" like a well-timed apology present!
Vishnu Srivatsav, National Creative Head, 22feet Tribal Worldwide, shared his insights on the campaign, stating: “On the day of love, it gives us great pleasure to launch a campaign that actually encourages couples to have a quarrel. But sometimes, you need to rift for the right gift. We had a lot of fun subverting a calm spiritual leader and turning them into an encourager of rifts. Sure, this campaign is about love, but it’s also about getting the things we love.”
Beyond the digital film, the “Rift to Gift” campaign extends across search ads, digital banners, and social media activations, all driving users to RiftToGift.com to experience the fun. The campaign perfectly taps into the relatable insight that partners tend to be more thoughtful after a minor disagreement, making it a fresh, engaging take on Valentine’s Day gifting.
