FOX announces the launch of History Rocks 4
What is it about these rock bands that I am on about? In today's world of hip hop and remixes, rock isn't followed as religiously as it was back in the golden days. Today, head-banging mindless noise is the so-called rock music. It has even been given a separate status in the capsule of rock music, and exists as a sub-genre of heavy metal - death metal. Fox History and Entertainment is trying to rekindle the past; the glorious days of rock music.
History Rocks ' a non-fictional, music oriented show ' is aimed at talking about historical events arranged by decade, through multimedia presentations consisting of photographs, archival footage, popular music and pop-up trivia. In 2007, History Rocks was awarded "Best short form audiovisual entertainment made for mobile and/or Internet lifestyle/music" at Mipcom's Mobile and Internet TV Awards.
So, the Gods of Rock are back on television with the best known "Rockumentary' ever. Who better to pay obeisance to the Gods of Rock than Pentagram! The four member band led by Vishal Dadlani that came together way back in 1993 is famous for its strong need to play individual, original, unique music.
Celebrating the rebirth of rock music legends, and rock music itself, the channel also launched their second music album, History Rocks 4 in association with Sony Music India. The album contains 60 definitive rock tracks from rock gurus like Meat Loaf, The Stranglers, Elvis Presley to name a few.
Speaking on the occasion, Keertan Adyanthaya, Managing Director, FOX International Channels said, "We are proud to announce the launch of the fourth season of one of our most popular series, History Rocks. Successfully running on the channel for three consecutive years, the content was well received by rock music lovers and we've had repeated requests from fans for the new season. We hope to continue entertaining our viewers with similar and more engaging content in the coming years."
"We are also excited about the launch of our second music album in association with Sony Music India. The album includes popular rock anthems that will soon hit the stores," he added.
Commenting on the launch of the music album, Arjun Sankalia, Director - International Repertoire & Online Business, Sony Music India said, "This is a great occasion for us as we collaborate with FOX History & Entertainment to create the ultimate package for rock lovers across the country. This 60-song compilation has the best of rock including classics from legends like Meat Loaf, The Stranglers, Elvis Presley to name a few. All in all ' a collector's item that's affordable."
Talking about the initiative, Sudha Sadhanand, Vice-President - Programming, FOX History & Entertainment said, "The series is a unique combination of concerts, documentaries and stories of rock legends and their days of classic rock. This season is dedicated to the ultimate sound of legendary rockers such as Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones to name a few. Once again, viewers will get to see what makes their favourite rock legends the Gods of Rock."
In an exclusive conversation with Adgully, Keertan Adhyanthaya, Managing Director, Fox International Channels, said, "We are trying to go local. It is very important to touch the hearts of the locals. The global mantra that we are going to follow is to go local, as there is more connectivity in it"
He also shared the simple marketing approach saying, "A few radio spots, promos with other like minded channels; and TV will always remain a strong medium for us."
Adhyanthaya also spilled beans on the group's plan of launching as many as seven new channels. "We are proud to announce the launch of the fourth season of one of our most popular series, History Rocks. Successfully running on the channel for three consecutive years, the content was well received by rock music lovers and we have had repeated requests from fans for the new season. We hope to continue entertaining our viewers with similar and more engaging content in the coming years," he concluded.
This 12 part series is going to give music lovers a peek into the lives of rock legends and their biggest concerts. The series kick started in Bengaluru on May 6 where JunkYard swayed the crowd with their performance. And while Pentagram was making the crowd of Mumbai go berserk with their guitars and drums, the crowd in Delhi was treated to the brilliance of THINK FLOYD.
The highlight of the evening at Hard Rock Café was the riff-dripping performance by Randolph, Shiraz, Papal and Vishal Dadlani paying tribute to their favourite Gods of Rock as they belted one classic number after another to a roaring, head banging audience.
The show is going to cover legendary names of the rock music world like U2, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. This is one thing on the idiot box that true music lovers cannot afford to miss. This is one programme there will be no fighting for ' everyone will be hooked, we're sure. Let's meet on Fridays, at 11:00pm. Cheers!
