Goafest 2012: YouTube's Watson on 'Why This Koleveri Di' on the interactive video platform!

At Goafest 2012 another day began with a impromptu song and dance performance by a group of people who were a part of the audience gathered to hear Lucas Watson, Vice-President (Global Sales and Industry Marketing), YouTube, on "Why This Koleveri Di" song which was a great success on You Tube platform. This was tagged on to a seminar by Lucas Watson, on "Magical Ideas Come When You Harness the Power of Many people'. Lucas Watson kicked off the knowledge seminar with a film by Ridly Scott ,'Life In A Day' and stressed on the fact that a project of this nature would not be possible a decade back.

Some of the other examples shared were .of Lady Gaga for Google Chrome,who he says has a great sense of building community and likes to showcase she is one with the people she serves.He stresses on the fact that lady Gaga connects well with a passionate group of people who associate with her to create her brand.He also stressed on the fact that most of the brands are engaging with lots of brands rather than speaking with the people.

Watson said that "P&G had taken an old idea, and studied it and worked on it check how it will work for the Summer Olympics. The new campaign was released a week back , and is built through both internet and web. Its not been promoted but being discovered by people on their own and has been created whereby people join into the momentum of the campaign.

According to Watson till about three months back nobody knew about them. They launched their video on You Tube and with TrueView they only had to pay when a person watched the ad. Four million people have watched this ad.it led to heavy price cut by Gillette because of it. He also emphasized on the fact you need not be big to strike a chord with the audience. The session concluded with a Q&A session, N Rajaram, chief marketing officer ' consumer business, Bharti Airtel quizzing Watson on various issues.

The next session of the hour included a short talk on Ad Katha (book) by Gerson da Cunha.

Jonathan Mildenhall, Vice President, Global Advertising Strategy /Coca-Cola conducted the first session of the evening on the "Liquid Approach' to advertising for Coca-Cola followed by a Q & A session moderated by Sanjay Behl, Reliance. The next session of the evening hour was on "Magic of Ideas- Our Language Impediment' by Tim Love, Vice Chairman, Omnicon Group /CEO Omnicon APIMA. Love spoke about the significance of languages as technology, and about treating languages differences with more reverence. Kainaz Guzdar from P & G moderated the Q & A session for the same. The last session of the day was by , Charles Wright of Wolff Olins on Combing Rigours with Magic to Solve Complex Business Problems.

The final event of the day was the most awaited Media Abbys and Creative Abbys Awards. This included Abby Digital and Media Awards show, Abby Design Awards, Abby Direct Awards. Ogilvy India won Grand Prix in Digital & Interactive category and two gold metal awards under the Digital and Interactive category in the Online Integrated Campaign sub-category for Fox Crime- "Photographs Case'.
