Google to join forces with newspapers for paid content abroad

Equivocally stating the intent to monetize content for newspapers, Google official Sarah Hunter at a Westminister e-Forum on the future of online content hinted that despite pecuniary troubles, Google would be interested in going into a revenue-sharing model with newspapers, ensuring good content gets paid, in a bid to ease tensions between newspapers and Google.

News Corp has hinted at the removal of stories from the Google search index to ensure people pay for content.

Former Endemol UK chief and digital investor however said people would still prefer free content. Stating that targeted ads would generate more in coming years as people stress on spam and personal data, he stressed the need for consent and privacy.
