Govt promotes consumer awareness ads

The Govt is taking enough steps to aware people of their consumer rights and is making efforts to promote consumer awareness ads on TV.

The Department of Consumer Affairs has commissioned video spots of 30-second duration on various consumer related issues.

These ad were telecast through Doordarshan and satellite channels during 2009. The preference is given to the ads based on rural and remote areas. The ads are produced in the regional languages for better communication.

The department has printed messages on railway tickets as well as utility bills such as electricity bills and on railway reservation charts. These messages are in Hindi, English and almost in all the regional languages.

As per reports, 30 major issues were taken up as part of the print advertisements and more than 12,000 insertions were given in the newspapers. Advertisements were released to more than 400 newspapers including national as well as regional dailies through DAVP.
