Himanshu Shekhar, GroupM’s Southeast Asia CEO, has stepped down after more than 25 years with the company. Having assumed the role of Southeast Asia CEO in May 2023, Shekhar played a pivotal role in driving the company’s success across key regional markets.
Shekhar’s journey with GroupM began over two decades ago, during which he held leadership positions across its agencies, including Mindshare. In April 2022, he was elevated to Cluster CEO of GroupM Thailand, with responsibilities extending to Indonesia and Vietnam.
His career in media has been defined by impactful leadership and strategic growth. Shekhar was named CEO of GroupM Indonesia in 2011 and Southeast Asia CEO in 2014. Over the years, he cultivated strong partnerships with major global and regional brands such as Unilever, Nestlé, GSK, Indofood, and Shopee.
Before his regional assignments, Shekhar held leadership roles at Mindshare India, where he served for more than seven years, eventually rising to General Manager. He also spent two years as Business Head North & West at Big FM.
Known for his focus on innovation, team-building, and strategic alliances, Shekhar’s contributions have earned widespread recognition, positioning GroupM for continued success in key markets.
