Hindi GEC Weekly Watch| Rishtey steady, other top channels witness dip

We’re back with Week 18 BARC data for Hindi GEC’s. Over this last week, all the Hindi GECs have seen a dip from their previous week’s ratings. Let’s look at the week 18’s ratings.

The top 5 channels over the last week were Star Plus, Colors, Life OK, Zee TV, Sony Sab TV in the order. Other than Rishtey, every channel witnessed a dip from last week.

Star Plus slipped from 518 in week 17 to 499 GRPs in week 18. Ironically, they were the table toppers for this week with 3 of their shows starring in the top 5 programs of the last week according to BARC ratings. Star Plus stood first among the Hindi GECs. Viacom18’s Colors witnessed a slight dip from 413 GRPs in week 17 to 412 GRPs this week. Whereas, Life OK, the sibling of Star Plus stood at 3rd position this week, and dropped its weekly BARC ratings in the General Entertainment Channels, Hindi category. It dipped marginally from 374 last week to 331 in this week.

Zee TV, the flagship Hindi GEC from ZEEL, has got reduced 38 GRPs in week 18 (May 2-May8), as per BARC data (HSM, NCCS All), to close the week at 310 GRPs. Followed by Zee is Sony Sab TV which saw a dip in their ratings from 235 GRPs last week to 192 GRPs this current week. One of Zee TV’s shows ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ stood at 5th position among top 5 shows of the week.

The rest of the channels witnessed a dip in their BARC weekly ratings other than Rishtey channel. Sony TV slipped from 221 GRPs in week 17 to 186 GRPs in week 18. & TV which saw their Hindi GRPs at 99 last week, slipped one GRP to 98 in this week.

Rishtey which was the steadiest among all the Hindi GECs remained at 40 GRPs this week, as they were last week. Star Utsav closed the week, 1 GRP down from 41 in the previous week to 40 GRPs in week 18. Zee Anmol’s GRPs declined from 53 GRPs in the last week to 52 GRPs in this week ending May 8th as per BARC weekly ratings.

Mostly all the Hindi Entertainment Channels slipped from previous week’s ratings.  Three of the top 5 Hindi Entertainment shows were ‘Saath nibhaana saathiya’, ‘Suhani si ek ladki’,‘Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai’ from Star Plus. Color’s ‘Sasural simar ka’ managed to be at the 2nd position behind Star Plus’s ‘Saath nibhaana saathiya’. ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ from Zee TV stood at 5th position among most viewed Hindi Entertainment programs.
