How StudioX is looking to revive Foster’s Beer in India

Foster's Beer, the renowned Australian brand, is set to make a resounding return to the Indian market, backed by revamped packaging, rebranding, and modernized brand assets. This exciting development comes as the beer industry in India continues its rapid growth, projected to reach Rs 622.4 billion by 2028, according to the IMARC Group.

Foster's Beer first entered the Indian market in 1997 through a partnership with SABMiller, establishing a brewery in Aurangabad, Gujarat. Now, armed with a fresh vision and approach, Foster's is all set to capture the hearts of Indian beer enthusiasts once again.

The creative genius behind Foster's reintroduction in India is StudioX, a leading creative agency known for its expertise in packaging design, branding, and brand activation strategies. Dominic Twyford and Mark D'Costa, co-founders of StudioX, spearheaded this innovative project.

Twyford shared insights into Foster's brief and StudioX's approach, saying, "Foster's has had a sporadic presence in India over the years. While it hasn't been one of the prominent brands we frequently encounter, our analysis revealed the undeniable strengths of the brand's assets: the captivating allure of the yellow rounded edges and the mesmerizing power of the red 'F' in Foster's font."

Recognizing the need for Foster's to effortlessly stand out in the crowded market, StudioX made a conscious decision to infuse the brand with more energy and vitality. While respecting the brand's history, they aimed to differentiate Foster's from traditional brands by capturing its unique attitude and spirit.

Extensive research conducted by StudioX highlighted Foster's embodiment of a non-serious, social-oriented persona. Additionally, the agency identified a strong association between the brand and Australia. To maintain this connection and appeal to the Indian market, StudioX incorporated iconic representations of Australian culture, such as beaches, the Sydney Opera House, and kangaroos.

Twyford further emphasized their approach, stating, "We explored international brands closely tied to their respective countries, celebrating heritage and craftsmanship. However, we wanted Foster's to differentiate itself by exuding an attitude, spirit, and a sense of being big and bold."

With Foster's long-standing association with Australian cricket in the minds of customers, StudioX ensured that the new branding maintained the connection with Australia while embracing the Indian market's preferences and sensibilities.

As Foster's Beer prepares to make its grand comeback, the Indian market can look forward to experiencing a refreshing and vibrant brand that effortlessly captures the essence of Australia while embracing its unique attitude.
