I&B Minister Drives South Indian Film Industry Participation in WAVES
Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, convened a virtual meeting with key figures from Film Associations representing the vibrant cinematic landscapes of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting centered on galvanizing participation from the South Indian film fraternity in the upcoming World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), a major event scheduled from May 1st to 5th, 2025. Discussions emphasized the crucial need for robust representation from the region, encompassing a wide array of industry professionals, including technicians, producers, directors, and actors. Furthermore, the meeting explored strategies to maximize the involvement of leading production houses and establish a prominent South Indian presence through a dedicated pavilion or booth at the WAVES Exhibition Space.
Dr. L. Murugan articulated the overarching vision for WAVES, stating that the summit aims to consolidate all media segments under a unified platform, an objective aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He underscored the initiative's significance as a pivotal stride towards positioning India as a dominant force on the global creative stage.
The virtual meeting was also attended by key officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, including Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Shri C. Senthil Rajan, Joint Secretary (IP), and Dr. Ajay Nagabhushan M.N, Joint Secretary (Films).
