I'm not a perfectionist: Aamir Khan at Forbes 1st anniversary celebration
I remember my father bringing back a bunch of Forbes magazines from his international tours, when I was a small kid. The lists of richest and the most influential people in the world used to fascinate me the most. Nothing else in the magazine made sense to me really, but it was that list of people who'd get my eyeball popping out. I'd go to my dad and ask him how much would the net worth of XYZ person translate into Indian rupees and hearing the price would just go back staring in astonishment at the figure and corresponding person's photograph.
As a child, nothing else attracts you to a business magazine but such numbers! If it had a list of people/things with the category starting with "Most" or "Top 10" or "Best" etc, I'd be hooked! These are memories that get stitched into your mind. I am a grown man now, and my romance with Forbes continues.
Moving on to facts, Forbes operates ten local language editions in China, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Israel, Korea, Poland, Romania, Russia and Turkey and the cumulative reach is in excess of six million readers.
"We need to teach the kids to think and allow them to challenge, building their very basis, grow as a human being as well turning out to be gentle. And gentle doesn't mean weak. More a person is gentle stronger he can be," Aamir concluded, citing the example of Mahatama Gandhi.
Adgully had a brief chat with Aamir and during our discussion; he explained his stand on life and clarified the "perfectionist' tag attached to him. "I am not trying to excel in anything or trying to be a perfectionist. All I am doing is the work I like and if it succeeds or it doesn't it is not in my hands. When I do a film I don't think if it is going to be successful or not, in fact in my next film I am working with all the new comers. I don't try to excel in anything; I just give my heart to it," he signs off.
And as it all comes to an end, I am again recalling how, as a child, I used to be affixed to those lists of the ten most powerful this and the 200 best thats. That put a smile on my face. It was a good day, overall.
