I was the first person to bring in the concept of sub-branding and multi-branding: Nobby Gupta

As much of an industry fit as Intel with technology, Nabankur Gupta, a.k.a. Nobby Gupta, is considered as a marketing genius; a corporate name which is no less than an institution in itself. He's been at the helm of things and been behind numerous success stories. Adgully had a chat with him about his climb up the corporate structure. Here is what he had to say, in as composed and as effortless a way that he is much recognised for. Hang on to your armchairs, for this makes for a must read for all those who're into marketing, and also for them who're not.

Adgully: Can you pls explain a bit in details on the functional areas of Nobby Brand Architects & Blue ocean capital and Advisory services Pvt Ltd.?

Nobby Gupta: Broadly speaking, it deals with areas which are the following five: business and finance ' which basically consists of business strategies, capital restructuring, capital raising, creating financial structures etc. ' then it deals with mergers and acquisitions wherein we basically identify potential targets helps with valuation issues, helps with negotiations and gives them guidance with regards to legal compliance and tax structures etc. These are the two areas relating to finance.

Then on marketing, it deals in a very broad manner with branding and brand management, distribution, marketing information management, broad communication strategy and development of retail strategy.

Then it deals with family businesses wherein it does financial restructuring, assists families with corporate governance and transparency issues, helps in setting up planning and information systems and it facilitates an interface between professionals and family members and manages family conflicts.

And so, it was time. We were jumping around with enthusiasm all this while but as the interview session came to an end, we realized that there is so much more to learn from this walking bank of experience and excellence who responds at the mention of Nobby. I guess we are going to speak to him again, for this one interview, in hindsight, just wasn't enough. Thanks, Mr Gupta, it was a pleasure.
