IPL 2025 to begin on March 23: BCCI
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will commence on March 23, 2025. The decision was revealed by BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla during a press conference following the board's general meeting.
Key Changes
The meeting also saw significant administrative changes within the BCCI. Devajit Saikia has been appointed as the new Secretary, succeeding Jay Shah. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been elected as the new Treasurer.
Other Announcements
• Champions Trophy Squad Selection: The selection meeting for the upcoming Champions Trophy squad will take place between January 18th and 19th.
• Women's Premier League (WPL) Venues: The venues for the 2025 WPL will be announced shortly.
IPL 2024 Recap
The previous IPL season (2024) kicked off on March 22nd with a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. The final was held on May 26th at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, with Kolkata Knight Riders emerging victorious.
