IRS 2011 Q2: Topline data released

The much awaited IRS data for the Qtr 2 2011 has been shared by Hansa Research and Media Users Research Council ( MRUC) today the 30th September 2011.On the face of it data does not show much changes in the top line.Dainik Jagran still remains the No 1 most read daily followed by Dainik Bhaskar and Hindustan.Times of India is the only English daily which finds the coveted space amongst the top ten dailies.

Hindi daily Dainik Jagran is the number one daily across the country in terms of Average Readership figure (AIR). The daily's AIR is at 16,393,000 compared to its IRS 2010 Q4 AIR of 15,910,000. The number two position is taken by the daily's competition Dainik Bhaskar. Dainik Bhaskar's AIR has increased to 14,174,000.

Third on the charts is Hindustan which has grown from an AIR of 11,810,000 to 11,985,000. Malayala Manorama sees a slight rise with an AIR of 9,962,000 but continues to be in the fourth position.

Amar Ujala at number five has an increased AIR of 8,891,000. Marathi daily Lokmat also has increased its AIR to 7,595,000 compared to last Q1 AIR of 7,486,000.

The Times of India has grown its AIR to 7,471,000 however is till at the number seven position. Daily Thanthi is at number eight position with an increased AIR of 7,290,000.

Rajasthan Patrika has dropped from 7,033,000 to 6,941,000 AIR and has been pushed to the 9th position.

Mathrubhumi is the tenth most read daily with an AIR of 6,690,000.
