Is Akshay Kumar the surprise element in ‘Stree 2’?

Akshay Kumar has been seen in horror-comedy movies earlier – ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and “Laxmii’. Now, as per industry grapevine, Akshay is likely to do a cameo in ‘Stree 2’. The original cast of ‘Stree’ is already part of the film, which include: Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparkshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee. A sequel of ‘Stree’ has been in the works after the stupendous success of the film. ‘Stree 2’ is slated to release on Independence Day (August 15) this year.

So far, the makers of the film have been hush-hush about whether Akshay is part of the film, but if industry insiders are to be believed, Akshay is expected to have an interesting cameo in the film and his character will come at an exciting point in the story. Apart from Akshay, the team has also shot with Varun Dhawan for a special role in the film. Varun was part of ‘Bhediya’, Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe. It is learnt that Tamannah Bhatia, too, has shot for her guest appearance in this film.

Akshay did his first horror-comedy, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ in 2007, which was a remake of Malayalam film ‘Manichitrathazhu’, where he played the role of a psychiatrist. The film went on to become a huge hit.

Meanwhile, another film of Akshay, ‘Khel Khel Mein’, is also going to be released on August 15, along with ‘Stree 2’. ‘Khel Khel Mein’ also stars Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, and Vaani Kapoor.

Jul 12 will see Akshay’s film ‘Sarfira’ hit the big screens, which is a Hindi remake of Suriya starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’, for which he won the National Award. It is said that Akshay has chosen to do selective promotions of this film because his last film, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, featuring him and Tiger Shroff, failed to create any ripples at the box office.
