Jagran launches Devalaya, a Coffee Table Book on temples of Bihar

Keeping up with its tradition of touching innovative publishing paradigms, Jagran Prakashan Limited (JPL) launched its brand new Coffee Table Book (JCTB) on Temples of Bihar- Devalaya. The book was unveiled by Chief Secretary of Bihar- Mr. A K Sinha at a spartan yet captivating launch function at Hotel Maurya, Patna on 6th Nov. The event was marked by a devoted bhajan sandhya towards the end, by the noted bhajan vocalist Nandita Dash, in line with the occasion.

Devalaya book is 5th in the series of coffee table books published by the Jagran group so far; besides books on the entrepreneurs of UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and Punjab. Conceptualized by Mr. Anand Madhab, AVP, Marketing, JPL, it features prominent Devalayas (Temples) from across the state of Bihar. It showcases the historical and contemporary significance of each shrine. This book, it is believed would serve as a ready reference material for the people who are inclined to know about the religious/spiritual past of Bihar. It is also different from the earlier works in the sense that it deals with historical/religious subjects, for the first time. Inputs from renowned experts on temples have given this book valid shades of authenticity. Given the glorious religious history of Magadh, the book is a tribute to the spiritual sentiments of the region.

Those amongst present at the launch were Shri Anand Tripathi, CGM, Dainik Jagran, Bihar, Acharya Kishore Kunal, Chairman, Raj Dharmik Nyas, Bihar, Shri. Shailendra Dixit, State Head, Dainik Jagran and Shri. Alok Sanwal, COO and Editor, i next and other prominent Jagran dignitaries.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief Secretary Mr. A K Sinha termed it as a big moment for the people of Bihar. “Devalaya is slated to represent the spiritual emotions of the state which is known for its religious lineage since ancient times. It not only documents shared holy vision but also gives reason to feel proud of the also economically emerging state.”

This book shall find resonance not only with the religious affiliates but also with the national, international audience. As Mr. Sunil Gupta, Director, JPL puts it-“Devalaya is not only a tribute to the religious ethos of Bihar but it also introduces the devotional facet of the state to a larger chunk of people in and outside the country. Incidentally we are also working towards the direction of bringing out book’s Hindi version for its larger acceptability in this part of the country.

Devalaya shall be succeeded by a similar book on the temples of Jharkhand. Alok Sanwal, also the Project Head, JCTB, applauded the team effort that went into the book. “With the continuing support from the JCTB team, we shall keep coming up with more and more such books which influence and benefit a whole spectrum of people and fraternities.
