Jio Studios steals the spotlight at IFFI 2024
Jio Studios, the media and content arm of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), is commanding attention at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) with a dazzling lineup of films. Showcasing an array of genres ranging from intense dramas to thought-provoking social narratives, the studio is poised to captivate audiences at one of Asia's most prestigious film festivals.
The studio’s offerings include much-anticipated premieres such as Saali Mohabbat, a gripping “howdunit” thriller marking the production debut of celebrated fashion stylist-turned-producer Manish Malhotra, starring Radhika Apte and Divyenndu; Mrs., an emotionally charged drama featuring a standout performance by Sanya Malhotra, making its Asia premiere after earning acclaim at international festivals; and Hisaab Barabar, a satirical social drama starring R. Madhavan, that deftly combines humor and emotion to tackle financial fraud and expose corporate malpractice.
Further cementing its cinematic prowess, Jio Studios’ Article 370 has been selected for the prestigious Indian Panorama section at IFFI 2024, joining an elite list of 25 films chosen from 384 entries.
This exceptional slate caps off a remarkable year for Jio Studios, which has delivered critical and commercial successes, including Laapataa Ladies, India’s official entry to the Oscars, the record-breaking Stree 2, supernatural sensation Shaitaan, and the blockbuster Singham Again.
Women in Films
Jyoti Deshpande, President of Media and Content Business at RIL, has played a pivotal role in steering Jio Studios to its current heights. At IFFI 2024, she will join an esteemed panel discussion titled ‘Women in Films – India Chapter: A New Vision’, featuring Guneet Monga, Andria Wilson, Tilottama Shome, and Aparna Purohit. This session promises an insightful exploration of the role of women in shaping cinema’s future.
