Junaid Khan delivers six-minute monologue in one take: Maharaj director

Junaid Khan truly showcased his talent as a fine actor with his brilliant performance in his debut film, Maharaj. His perfect characterisation not only won the hearts of both audiences and critics but also made him stand out in the film. He played the role of a journalist and flawlessly embodied the intensity and mannerisms that were required to bring the character to life.

Moreover, it's not just the audience and critics who loved his performance; director Siddharth P. Malhotra also found it easy to work with Junaid, given his past theatre experience. Malhotra was particularly impressed by how Junaid delivered a six-minute monologue in a single take and felt really proud as he is the first director Junaid worked with.

While expressing his thoughts on working with Junaid Khan in Maharaj, director Siddharth P. Malhotra said, "So because Junaid is already a theater actor that helped me a lot. Also both my writers are playwrights. During the covid, we almost read the film, the entire script, almost for the year. I think Monday to Sunday. Sunday is included. Shalini read with us, Sharwari read with us. Jaydeep read with us to find the balance of Maharaj, because he would only be smiling.”

He further added, “And we were like, this is how I see you and so for Junaid, even naturally, like you've correctly pointed out an eight minute monologue. Actually, it was an eight minute monologue, which was then cut down to six, but he gave it in one take on set. He gave it in one take and, and that's pretty much, I mean, if I show you the making, it was a proud moment, a proud papa moment for me, because everybody was clapping for him, but he'd rehearsed it so well! He knew the pauses. And there's a lot of him speaking to different people at different times in that speech, so it's a very tough monologue, but I think the rehearsal and the hard work and dedication that he put in has paid off in the right way!”

Now, all eyes are on Junaid's exciting lineup of projects. He has one untitled film with Khushi Kapoor and another with Sai Pallavi.
