Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ gets clearance from CBFC
Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’, which was supposed to last week on September 6, was delayed after the Central Board of Film Certification revoked its certificate after receiving petitions from various organizations, including Sikh groups over their representation in the film. The film is directed by Kangana and she is essaying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in it.
Kangana and co-producer Zee Studios had approached the court to seek the certification, but could not get relief from the court. Thus, the film’s release got delayed.
Now, as per the latest update, the CBFC has granted UA certificate to ‘Emergency’, but with conditions. The makers of the film have been asked to make cuts in a couple of scenes and add disclaimers in a few, where some important historical events have been presented in the film. They have also asked the makers to provide sources of some of the controversial historical scenes shown in the film.
The actress had expressed her disappointment over not getting a certificate and pushing the release of the film on her social media handles. Now, the film has finally received the film board’s certification. However, so far the makers have not made any official announcement on a new release date nor have they reacted to the suggested cuts in the film.
