LAKME FASHION WEEK SUMMER/RESORT 2012: Sapna Bhavnani and Sukriti Grover introduced SoFake
SoFake by Sapna Bhavnani and Sukriti Grover introduced us to their collection, aptly named, “Kathorian” which was an intricate and well balanced blend of Indian Kathakali dance wear with the structure and form inspired from the Victorian era.
This collection aimed to be an extension of their recently launched label; focused on using simple fabrics such as linen, jerseys, knits, and cottons and had the spotlight on the cut and flow of their collection, which was simply dazzling.
The label, being an androgynous line mixed up the silhouettes of the classic Kathakali wear which tends to be a bit masculine along with the elegance and softness of the Victorian silhouettes.
Geometric prints with structure were complemented by elegant puffs and flows of fabric in black, white and grey which made for edgy sophistication. Layers worked their magic to add a slight feminine touch and other-worldly beauty.
The collection’s pieces were versatile and ranged from maxi dresses, to bustle skirts, to jackets and tops.
Needless to say, SoFake by Sapna Bhavnani and Sukriti Grover with their intriguing designs and rocker chic appeal is one label to look out for this summer.
