Lionheart & braveheart rolled into one: Industry celebrates Vikram Sakhuja

The who’s who of the Indian advertising industry converged in Mumbai on January 11, 2025 to celebrate media colossus Vikram Sakhuja, Group CEO, Madison Media & OOH, who was conferred with the AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award 2024. This prestigious award is the highest recognition in the Indian advertising industry, given to individuals whose work has made a lasting influence.

With nearly 40 years of experience, Vikram Sakhuja, an alumnus of IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta, has held key roles at renowned organizations like P&G, Coca-Cola, Star TV, WPP, and Madison. His career began in 1984 with DCM Management Trainee, followed by his joining P&G in 1988, and later taking up brand marketing at Coca-Cola. He then moved to Star TV before joining WPP, where he became the first Indian Global CEO of a global advertising agency. Currently, he is the Equity Partner and Group CEO of Madison, India's largest independent media agency.

Contributions to the Industry

Sakhuja has played a significant role in the industry, having led GroupM South Asia and Mindshare, chaired FICCI’s Advertising & Marketing Committee, and been a member of key industry boards such as BARC and AAAI. His leadership at GroupM introduced innovations in mobile, social media, and content, resulting in the agency winning over 50% of industry awards. Sakhuja’s initiatives have redefined India’s advertising landscape, from launching iconic brands like Ariel and Sprite to pioneering media research methods.
