Louise Pentland from Disney joins Roku as SVP & General Counsel

Louise Pentland is set to join Roku as Senior Vice President and General Counsel starting July 23rd. She comes from The Walt Disney Company, where she currently holds the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Counsel for Disney Experiences and Products. At Disney, Pentland oversees legal and regulatory matters for global operations including theme parks, cruises, consumer products, and e-commerce.

Pentland will report directly to Anthony Wood, Roku's Founder and CEO, succeeding Stephen Kay, the current SVP and General Counsel who is retiring in November after over a decade with the company. Kay played a pivotal role in Roku's significant milestones, such as its successful IPO in 2017.

Wood expressed enthusiasm about Pentland joining Roku, highlighting her extensive experience in legal affairs, government relations, and corporate governance. He praised her potential contributions to Roku's mission to revolutionize TV viewing and enhance the TV ecosystem. Meanwhile, Kay was thanked for his contributions and wished well in his retirement.

Pentland herself expressed excitement about joining Roku during what she sees as a transformative period in the streaming industry. She noted Roku's leadership in smart TV innovation and looks forward to contributing to its ambitious future goals.

Before her tenure at Disney, Pentland held senior roles at PayPal and Nokia Corporation. She also serves as a non-executive director at Experian, Hitachi, and Pacific Life.
