Media titan Ramoji Rao passes away at 87

Indian media mogul Ramoji Rao, founder of the Eenadu media group and Ramoji Film City, passed away early on Saturday morning. He was 87. Ramoji Rao was undergoing treatment at Star Hospital in Hyderabad when he passed away at 3:45 am. The cause of death was reported to be heart-related issues.

A visionary leader, Ranmoji Rao was widely respected for his contributions to Indian media and cinema. He was the head of the Ramoji Group, encompassing Eenadu newspaper, the ETV television network, Ramoji Film City (the world's largest film production facility), and Usha Kiran Movies, a film production company. Ramoji Rao's influence extended beyond media and entertainment, with ventures in hospitality, retail, and education.

Ramoji Rao's achievements were numerous. He received four Filmfare Awards South, five Nandi Awards, and a National Film Award for his work in Telugu cinema. In recognition of his contributions to journalism, literature, and education, Ramoji Rao was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour, in 2016.
