NASSCOM Foundation facilitates NGOs
Ravi Venkatesan, Chairman, Microsoft India- "At Microsoft, we believe in the transformative power of technology - and that cost should not be a barrier to access. In India today, there is a need for utilizing technology at the grassroots, and we are glad to be able to play a part in enabling this. Making our software available in association with TechSoup Global and NASSCOM Foundation is a step towards reaching out to communities under-served by technology."
NASSCOM Foundation [NF] is the social development arm of NASSCOM. It works towards galvanizing the corporate social responsibility (CSR) space for the IT-BPO industry in India. BiGTech is NF's key technology philanthropy programme and through it's partnership with TechSoup Global, USA, latest technology is made accessible to non profits with just a click of a mouse. They receive brand new software and services free, as donation. It has five donors - Microsoft, Eagle Conferencing, Bytes of Learning, Busy Infotech and Quick Heal (anti-virus). BiGTech has around 880+ NGOs registered from across the country and has made available over Rs.6 crores worth of software donations, including Microsoft Office 2003 and Office 2007, to non profits. Offerings of these donors are available to non profits for free by registering on www.BiGTech.in.
