New Balance signs Basketball Star Cooper Flagg
New Balance has announced the signing of Cooper Flagg, the Gatorade National Player of the Year and Naismith Player of the Year, to its roster.
The 6'9" power forward, renowned for his dominant style of play and deep connection to the brand, is set to inspire the next generation of athletes as he joins the New Balance family.
Flagg, who is set to begin his highly anticipated collegiate career at Duke University this fall, is the top player in the 2024 class. During his senior season at Montverde Academy, he averaged impressive stats: 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 3.7 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game. Additionally, Cooper was one of the 15 athletes selected for the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s Select Team, training with the USA Basketball Men’s National Team in preparation for the Paris Olympics. He is the only teenager and the first collegiate player to earn this honor since 2013.
Naveen Lokesh, Head of Basketball Sports Marketing at New Balance, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership: “Cooper adds so much to our basketball roster, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the New Balance family. He is a force to be reckoned with on the court, and we look forward to building our relationship as he grows the game and supporting him in all his endeavors.”
Hailing from Newport, Maine, just 25 miles from the New Balance Skowhegan manufacturing facility, Flagg has a long-standing connection to the brand.
“I grew up wearing New Balance, and I appreciate their authentic connection to my community,” says Cooper Flagg. “The focus and growth of the brand in basketball and our shared values and history drew me in. From day one, it was clear that this would be a family-like partnership. I’m so excited to join this family and help them grow the category with young athletes.”
In addition to featuring in New Balance basketball marketing campaigns, Flagg will engage with the brand across lifestyle extensions and community initiatives, focusing on programs that give back to young athletes. Cooper Flagg’s addition marks another milestone in New Balance’s expanding roster of basketball athletes.
