NPCI launches ‘RuPay On-The-Go’ for seamless transit
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has unveiled its latest campaign, ‘RuPay On-The-Go,’ aimed at driving awareness and adoption of the RuPay National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). This new initiative promotes the RuPay NCMC as the ultimate solution for transit payments, offering unmatched speed, convenience, and ease of use to commuters across India.
The RuPay NCMC is an innovative payment solution designed to address the challenges of India's transit ticketing systems. Its unified, open-loop, and interoperable design consolidates payments for metro, bus, tolls, parking, and retail into one seamless solution. The card's stored value function allows for swift, offline transactions, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted travel even when internet connectivity is unavailable.
Currently operational in major transit networks, including metros in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, and Kanpur, as well as bus services in cities such as Mumbai (B.E.S.T), Guwahati, Haryana, Jammu, Srinagar, Himachal Pradesh, and Aurangabad, the RuPay NCMC is expanding its reach to serve a growing number of commuters.
Kunal Kalawatia, Chief of Products at NPCI, commented: “RuPay On-The-Go is transforming public transportation in India by offering a quick and convenient payment solution. It’s not just a payment method; it’s a lifestyle enabler. Designed for those who value efficiency and speed, this campaign positions RuPay as the ideal partner for seamless transit. By expanding contactless payment options across metros and buses, we are committed to making daily commutes smoother for millions of people across the country.”
To get started on their seamless transit journey, users can visit participating banks, metro stations, or designated transport offices to obtain their RuPay NCMC cards.
